Find A Voice was registered as a charity in October 1996 (Charity No. 1058697). Since 2001 the organisation has operated from a single storey Centre in Ashford, Kent providing services primarily to those in the county of Kent.
Find A Voice supports children and adults who have a severe speech, language or communication difficulty, and who may require some form of augmentative and alternative communication (AAC) support. This can include signing, symbols or a communication aid. Support is provided in person, by telephone and via this website.
Our vision is: "To develop Find A Voice as a leading charity in the field of speech, language and communication."
Our aims to achieve this are:
- To champion the rights of individuals with speech, language and communication needs through personal support and advocacy
- To champion and lobby the decision makers and statutory agencies for all people with speech, language and communication needs
- To be actively involved in the research and development of communication aids and other ICT innovations, and to promote and contribute to the body of knowledge within the field of speech, language and communication needs
- To continue to expand and develop the resource loan bank for service users, their families and professionals
- To establish robust, diversified and sustainable funding
- To sustain and develop the organisation's human resources and assets
- To continue to actively seek, value and build positive collaboration with our partners.
