We have now been in our current home for over ten years. A former residential bungalow, the building was last used as a GP’s surgery throughout the 1980s and 1990s. In the last decade we have grown from the tiny organisation with one staff member and a small collection of communication items to the vibrant resource and teaching centre that we are in 2012; with a full time CEO, six part-time staff and four part-time volunteers working on site here. Retainagroup Ltd have very kindly sponsored our rent for the whole time, for which we are eternally grateful. Space is increasingly a problem these days, and the building is now unsuitable for our needs in its current format as staff, volunteers, students and visitors find themselves literally tripping over each other! Our current lease ends in two years’ time, and we need to make plans for the future. We have launched a Building Fund for 2012 and 2013 to raise £120,000 to go towards helping us either purchase and extend our current property, or find a new forever home. We are literally bricking ourselves in; for every £5 ‘virtual brick’ purchased, we will place a brightly coloured plastic building brick in our porch window, and you will receive a Certificate of Ownership for the brick(s) that you sponsor. Bricks are available from our centre, at outreach sessions and at all of our fundraising events this year, or you can send us a payment. Contact us for more details.
