Like all registered charities, Find A Voice is governened by a Board of Trustees, who are supported by our President and Vice Presidents. Our Trustees meet regularly as a body and form sub-committees where necessary to work on specific projects.
Our staff team work hard to deliver our service, and are supported by a range of volunteers.

Our small but friendly team works hard to ensure that we can assist and as many people as possible.

Liz CollinsLIZ COLLINS
Business Director

Liz ensures that the organisation runs smoothly and that we comply with all the regulatory aspects of the charity. She is also involved in grant and funding applications and corporate networking, as well as overseeing the Resource Library services.

Becky WashingtonBECKY WASHINGTON
Technical Director

Becky controls and oversees the tutors on all the various student led programmes at Find A Voice. She is also the lead on our fundraising activities and is developing our sensory services.


ROB VINCENT
Client Services Manager
Rob takes the lead on the day-to-day running of our Resource Library and operates our Outreach Service. He also teaches on our ICT Choices Programme and both of our ASDAN courses.

JACQUI CHEESE
Learning Support Facilitator

Jacqui works with our students helping to deliver our ICT based training programmes and assists with our ASDAN programmes.

DENISE MACKUCH
Learning Support Facilitator
Dee works with our students helping to deliver our ICT based training programmes and runs some specific lessons teaching some of our students to read. She also volunteers one day per week as a co-ordinator for the Resource Library.


VOLUNTEERS

The permanent staff are assisted by a range of volunteers, without whom things would be a lot more difficult to manage. Our thanks go to all those who help us out, but especially to the following:-

Iona Evelegh - Iona joined us as a volunteer recently and is interested in developing her skills by supporting the tutors running the ASDAN Programmes at the Centre.

Tim Evers
- Tim helps by driving some of our less mobile students to and from their ICT lessons who would otherwise have to pay for taxis to get to the Centre and back.

Jill McAdams - Jill religiously stuffs hundreds of envelopes with newsletters every quarter and posts them off for us.

BOARD OF TRUSTEES

alastair-dutchALASTAIR DUTCH OBE - Chairman
Alastair helped to create Find A Voice in 1997 and chaired the charity for the first eight years, later becoming Vice President. He recently retired after 37 years in the Diplomatic Service. In 2006 he was awarded the OBE in recognition of his work for the Foreign and Commonwealth Office and for his work with Find A Voice.

In January 2010 he returned to the role of Chair to allow Eryll Woollett to take up the vacant position of Treasurer.

ERYLL WOOLLETT - Treasurer and Vice Chaireryll-woollett
Eryll joined us as Chair in 2006, having been involved with FAV through supporting her granddaughter who has special needs. Eryll is working with the Directors to develop the charity further using her business background. She also attends the Find A Voice Centre once a week to help and become involved in the working of FAV on a day-to-day level.

In January 2010 Eryll stepped down from the role of Chair to assume the vacant Treasurer's role, and was appointed Vice Chair in February 2010.

Now retired from his business career, Ted has been involved in the sporting and community life of Ashford for many years and is an active member of his local church.

Wendy joined us a Trustee in January 2009. and aids the organisation in many ways, including event management.

KELLY-MARIE BLUNDELL - Secretary
Kelly-Marie joined us as a Trustee in July 2009 and was elected Secretary at the Annual General Meeting. Kelly-Marie has a strong legal background and is actively involved with a variety of community groups in the Ashford area promoting community engagement and disability issues.

CHARLES McDONALD
Charles joined the Board of Trustees in October 2010. He is the Senior Partner at Hallett & Co. Solicitors, based in Ashford, and brings a wealth of legal knowledge to the table.

ANDREW SETTERFIELD
Andy joined the Board of Trustees in February 2010. He is married with two children and his hobbies include golf, reading and exercise. Andy is involved in various business projects including the Hoodeners Horse in Great Chart, Ashford (Real Ale and Mexican food pub) as well as being an Independent Financial Adviser giving business and personal advice to clients.

DAVID HEYBURN
David joined the Board of Trustees in February 2010.

Colin is recently retired after 34 years working for the Ministry of Defence, during which time he held a number of technical and managerial posts. Born and raised in South Wales he has since lived in many locations in the UK and Germany, and has lived in Ashford for the last ten years. Colin was appointed as a Trustee in April 2010.


PATRICIA OWEN-SMITHpat-owen-smith
Pat was appointed as a Trustee in April 2010. Her work background ranges from civil engineering through to accounts work Her voluntary endeavours include serving as Treasurer and Press Secretary on Womens' Insitute Committees and acting as Secretary for a local Scout Group's Fundraising Committee.




SUPPORTING THE TRUSTEES

DAMIAN GREEN, MP - President damian_photo_smiling
Damian Green has been the President of Find A Voice since the early days of the Charity. He believes that it is a very worthwhile cause and how the dedication and determination of a small group of people can make a difference to people's lives.
He was elected as MP for Ashford in May 1997, and subsequently re-elected in 2001 and 2005. In December 2005 he was also appointed as Shadow Minister for Immigration.




MICHAEL CLAUGHTON - Vice President michael-claughton
Also a former Chairman of Find A Voice, Michael became a Vice President in 2008. During his office as Mayor of Ashford in 2003-3 he raised £14,000 for Find A Voice as part of his Mayor's Charity Appeal.

SUSAN SOAN - Technical Advisor
M.Ed. in Special Educational Needs, Sue is a Principal Lecturer at Christ Church University in Canterbury. She was also a Trustee of Find A Voice for many years.
