Play Ashford Community Lottery and support Find a Voice
Our Outreach Co-ordinator travels across Kent and East Sussex to deliver communication equipment wherever it is needed. We are the only charity that provides this service free of charge. We loan equipment for periods of six weeks, to schools, portage groups, nurseries and individuals. The loan of the equipment gives users an opportunity to trial communication aids to dtermine which device is best suited to their individual needs.
Funding for BBC Children in Need has made the re-development of the Outreach Service possible and we are very grateful for the opportunity this has given the charity to further support children and young people with communication difficulties.
As well as supporting children and young people, we support adults who may have suffered a brain injury, a stroke or perhaps developed dementia or other communication difficulties.
In a recent evaluation of the service both parents and professionals were overwhelmingly positive and were particularly pleased with the range of equipment available to them. The comments below are typical of the feedback we received.
"What a fantastic resource to have access to. Thank you very much for your help!"
"Find a Voice has made possible the ability to try out interventions without great expense or research.Borrowing switch activated toys makes it easier as it helps parents who cannot afford the toys." - Parent at Whitstable Outreach
"The objects have been used to develop and generalise pupil’s communication skills. It has enabled pupils to experience new, exciting motivators which encourages a pupil to request it."
